Who We Are

We're dads who've struggled with the hard parts of parenting - the anger that comes out of nowhere, the exhaustion that sleep doesn't fix, the guilt that follows losing it with our kids.

We built Steady Dad because we needed it ourselves. In the moments when everything is falling apart, we wanted something that could help - not a 30-minute meditation, but a tool we could use right now.

What This Is

Steady Dad is a collection of tools and resources for the hardest moments of parenting. We read the research so you don't have to, and we translate it into practical techniques you can use when everything is going sideways.

Our content is based on published research - studies on breathing techniques, emotional regulation, repair in parent-child relationships. We cite our sources and try to represent the research accurately. But we present it as dads who've been there, not as clinical experts.

What This Isn't

We're not therapists. We're not providing medical advice or mental health treatment. The techniques we share - breathing exercises, grounding techniques, repair scripts - are general wellness practices, not clinical interventions.

If you're dealing with something serious - persistent anger that scares you, depression, thoughts of self-harm - please talk to a professional. We've included resources to help you find one.

We think of Steady Dad as a complement to professional help, not a replacement for it. We can give you a breathing technique to use in the moment. A therapist can help you understand why you keep ending up in those moments in the first place.

Our Approach

Everything on Steady Dad is based on published research, but we present it as dads sharing what works - not as experts dispensing treatment. We tell you what we've learned and what the research suggests, but your situation is yours.

We try to be honest about what we know and what we don't. When the research is clear, we say so. When it's more nuanced, we try to reflect that too.

We're a small team building tools we wish existed. No venture funding. No pressure to grow at all costs. Just dads making things for other dads.
